BLUE Stars - August 2014

Building Lasting Unforgettable Experiences... At WILLCARE, that's what we do best!  We strive to provide exceptional customer service for all our customers, including patients, their families, physicians, vendors, referral sources, and co-workers.  We view every interaction as a chance to leave our customers with positive experiences that they will never forget.

Our BLUE program (short for Building Lasting Unforgettable Experiences of course!) recognizes those WILLCARE team members who've gone above and beyond to provide fantastic customer service.   Once a month, the WILLCARE employees that best embody the spirit of BLUE are selected to be our BLUE Stars.  Learn more about our August 2014 winners below.

Nominate A BLUE Star

Janet Kean

Personal Care Aide
Middletown, NY Licensed Branch

Why She Was Nominated:

WILLCARE received a letter from a Public Health Nurse who works with Janet Kean.  The letter stated, “I would like to provide you with positive feedback on Janet Kean.  I have had the opportunity to work with her in the field since 2013.  She is a dedicated and reliable direct care provider.  She is respectful and attentive to the needs of her clients.  Janet consistently demonstrates the qualities and character that facilitate excellent patient care.  The care that she provides results in a positive impact in the home environment.  I thought that it was important for the supervisory staff at WILLCARE to know what wonderful work Janet is doing.”  Thank you, Janet, for all your hard work!  Selected 8/2014

Christopher Lynch

RN Case Manager
Wethersfield, CT Branch

Why He Was Nominated:

Recently, Christopher’s supervisor praised Chris after he found a medication error made by a pharmacy that could have been very harmful for the patient.  His supervisor stated, "Chris noticed a major medication error made by a pharmacy regarding his patient’s insulin.  The pharmacist dispensed a vial of regular insulin in place of Novolin long acting insulin.  The instructions on the label read: “24 units every am; 24 units every pm.”  Needless to say, this dosage of regular insulin would have been very dangerous, possibly even lethal, to this patient.  Thank you, Chris, for being diligent, noticing this error, and advocating for this patient!  Selected 8/2014

Kimberly Ort

Personal Care Aide
Middletown, NY Licensed Branch

Why She Was Nominated:

Kimberly was caring for her client, when all of a sudden the client went limp on her right side.  Kimberly recognized that her client was having a stroke and immediately called 9-1-1.  Her client was frightened and Kimberly stayed with her during this time.  Kimberly held her hand, comforted her, and kept her composure in order to help her client remain calm.  If it wasn't for Kimberly's quick response, the client would have not made it. The Office of the Aging was moved by this story and called to say that they were very impressed by Kimberly’s actions.  Kimberly is truly an asset to our organization.  Selected 8/2014
